UFF-USF Graduate Assistants Chapter Unveils New Web Site
Welcome to the Web site of the United Faculty of Florida Graduate Assistant's United Chapter at the University of South Florida. GAU advocates for the interests of graduate workers and seeks to protect and advance our working conditions. GAU is the only legally recognized collective bargaining agent for graduate assistants and researchers at the University of South Florida, University of Florida, Florida State University and Florida A & M University.
By coming together, we can make improvements in our lives and do much more together than we can alone. GAU is a chapter of United Faculty of Florida (UFF), a statewide organization that represents and bargains for USF faculty and graduate employees. USF-GAU is part of the higher education local of the Florida Education Association and its various national affiliates: the National Edducation Associate, the American Federation of Teachers, and the AFL-CIO.
Bargaining Over: Contract Has Been Ratified
In June 2009, the UFF-USF-GAU finished collective bargaining with the Univeristy for an increase in health care coverage and stipends. The unit ratified the changes on June 24th and 25th. The USF Board of Trustees ratified the contract on July 28th. A synopsis of the major revisions is available on the downloads page.
In June 2008, the UFF-USF-GAU finished collective bargaining with the University for the next three-year agreement. The collective bargaining agreement (CBA) was ratified by the membership by a nearly unanimous vote and was subsequently ratified by the University's Board of Trustees.
